"Don't shoot what it looks like. Shoot what it feels like" - David Alan Harvey. Any photographer tries to capture what they feel at a specific theme. Wedding photographers wants to capture the love of the newly weds. Sport photographers captures a great victory of a sports team or the proud moment of winning an Olympic gold medal. Wildlife photographers captures a moment in time, a sighting rarely seen or even use the animal as back groud to show something small instead.

The hippo of hippotamus (Huppoptamus amphibious) is from the ancient Greek word  for “river horse” and fitting because these big mammals love to waddle in rivers and dams or sun bath on the river beds. They are the third largest land animal by weight and some of the olderst hippopotamus fossils dates back to 16 million years ago.

When palnning a trip (tour) or family safari holiday to a game lodge, reserve in Limpopo South Africa you will most likely travel on a open safari vehicle to view game.

What is an open vehicle safari?

A specially modified four wheel drive vehicle designed to carry between 5 and 10 guests is used to bring you to within close proximity of Africa's game when you are on safari. The capabilities of the vehicle are such that it is able to traverse fairly rough terrain, with the exception of ecologically sensitive areas particularly after rain. In the case of many lodges and safari camps, the vehicle does not have a roof or sides and allows for maximum all-round visibility.

You could find yourself getting close to big game, this should not alarm you provided you observe the basic do's and don'ts as discussed by your ranger prior to and during your safari trip.

A minimum of a two-night stay at Mulati Safari camp  or Kilima Private Game Reserve and Spa recommended to savour all that is the African bush.

In compiling the safari companion we have taken note of some of the most frequently asked questions by guest, and are always willing to answer any questions that you may have, please feel free to contuct us and direct these to: This email address is being protected from spambots. The exciting new launce of the Culture and Heritage Shongololo Project took place at the 2012 Indaba that was hosted at the ICC in Durban the past week. We had quite a number of press releases and media briefings to attend and the two that’s most memorable were the live interview we had on the BBC UK tourism radio and the interview with Johnny Clegg the patron of the new Culture and Heritage Shongololo Project. The Murchison Leisure Group requested to be part of the implementation and rollout plan and will assist the Heritage and Culture Tourism Strategy.
