The exciting new launce of the Culture and Heritage Shongololo Project took place at the 2012 Indaba that was hosted at the ICC in Durban the past week. We had quite a number of press releases and media briefings to attend and the two that’s most memorable were the live interview we had on the BBC UK tourism radio and the interview with Johnny Clegg the patron of the new Culture and Heritage Shongololo Project. The Murchison Leisure Group requested to be part of the implementation and rollout plan and will assist the Heritage and Culture Tourism Strategy.

The heritage and culture experiences are the fastest growing demand niche market in the tourism industry. This applies to both domestic and international tourism and accounts for about 40% of the tourism market. As a personal journey this should be an important part of the tourism package that goes to the patrons and international buyer. Mixing and crossing over, that for me is where the most interesting tension and conversations emerge when cultures talk to each other. Culture gives the people an opportunity to shape and redefine who they are. Sharing your cultural stories is the most precious thing you can give a visitor. This will provide the visitor to Murchison Leisure Groups properties in Limpopo close to Hoedspruit the authentic African experience they are looking for.

One jewel in the crown of Murchison namely Mulati Safari Camp , is situated in the Limpopo Province close to Kruger National Park , at the foot of the Murchison Mountain Range. It boats mountain forest, savanna grasslands and lush bushveld along the Mulati riverbed. We offer travellers luxury tented accommodation that is situated under the shade trees and grassy banks of our waterhole. A swimming pool provides a wonderful cool off in summer, braai facilities for our braai masters and fully equipped tents provides a worry free bush experience.

Acitivities that is on offer at Mulati is game drives, birding, walking trails, star gazing and a visit to our rear species breeding program.
